Two letters from Albert Lebourg (one written on his business card) concerning the return of a painting by "Gustave Collin" [probably Gustave-Henri Colin (1828-1910), who had died two years earlier and who, like Albert Lebourg, was one of the exhibitors at the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874].

"I would be grateful if you could write to me so that I may have the painting by Mr. Gustave Collin, which belongs to you and which you entrusted to Mr. Grolleau, delivered to you. This painting will be delivered against receipt by my agent to the address you will kindly indicate. If there was an agreed price between you, Sir, and Mr. Grolleau, I would be obliged if you would have it delivered to Mrs. Machet, 102 Avenue d'Orléans."
"Last night I sent a short note, which you should have received, in which I told you that Madame Machet, who was aware of Monsieur Grolleau's affairs, was giving me information about what belonged to you at Monsieur Grolleau's. Thank you for your card, which I received today and which will allow me to remove the painting you mentioned from the inventory. I will send it to the address you wish to give me. Please don't worry about that. Yes, Madame Machet spoke of our old friend with admirable devotion, and this for many years: he considered her absolutely like a daughter. I, more than anyone else, was able to appreciate the fine character of this woman, so valiant and so devoted; and so unfortunate as a mother, having a poor little disabled daughter who, I fear, will remain disabled all her life."
